Our city has an overwhelming array of things to learn, places to go, and foods to try. Places to grab an after-work drink, or explore American history. So what are the best of the best? The City Cast DC team put together our ultimate guide to getting the most out of life in The District.

- Study up on D.C. lingo and get some pointers on how to up your hometown accent and slang
- Help keep D.C. green by taking an e-bike or composting
- Work from the National Portrait Gallery Courtyard (yes, it’s free entry!)
- Visit Eastern Market to stock up your pantry with the freshest ingredients and grab some famous buckwheat pancakes from Market Lunch

- Have a photoshoot at the Arboretum columns and check out their ancient bonsai collection
- Go to a bar you may have never heard of like Suns Cinema, Hill Prince, or Trusty’s (see our full list of underrated bars here)
- Have a picnic at Malcolm X Park (Or is it Meridian Hill Park?)
- Take a peaceful stroll and get a much-needed summer breeze along the Georgetown Waterfront
- Eat at Maydan, Georgia Brown’s, Albi, Queen’s English or one of the many Michelin starred restaurants
- Chill in a hammock at Crispus Attucks Park
- Escape the cold air in winter and attend an event at the United States Botanical Garden
- Take a tour of DC’s best cupcakes (use our “scientific method”) to decide which is the best)
- See a concert at the historic 9:30 Club or the newly reopened Atlantis

- Explore D.C.’s murals that celebrate the history of U Street NW
