Edgewood in NE D.C. is split between new developments in the south, like Bryant St. Market and Kraken, and old-school row homes in the north. It’s also home to D.C.’s most iconic beer crawl route.

First, Let’s Get Some Coffee:

Jaliyaa Coffee is a small roaster that sources its beans from sustainable farms in northern Africa. They are moving from their coffee truck to a permanent location in Bryant St. Market on Feb. 1. For something sweeter, try one of the milk teas from Tiger Sugar, also in the market.

Where To Eat:

Bryant St. Market has an array of options to choose from. My favorite is Doki Doki BBQ by Kevin Tien (the burnt pork ends bowl and mambo duck wings are to die for). Hot Lola’s fried chicken (also from Tien) and Blowfish Poke also hit the spot. Or you can do what we did and try a little bit of everything 😋

Where To Drink:

The Dew Drop Inn is one of the best dives in the city, catering to a retro indie crowd with lots of live music, quirky events, and drink specials. For locally made beer, City State Brewing is just a five-minute walk down the MBT. Walk a couple more minutes and you’ll be at Metrobar with its revamped metro car, live music, and food trucks.

What To Do:

See a movie at Alamo Drafthouse and have dinner delivered to your seat. Or, try your hand at some indoor pickleball and roller skating at Kraken. If you’re feeling creative, take a dance class or catch a performance at Dance Place down the road.
