i everyone! Priyanka here. Thanks to Kaela's events lists, I discovered 7DrumCity's Open Jam Session on Sunday and went with a friend.

7DrumCity is a Truxton Circle house full of rehearsal studios. Some of them have pianos, others guitars, others full drum sets, all set up for the lessons the center offers. And on Sunday from 6-11 p.m., they were open for people to wander through and try out.

Several of the bigger rooms were labeled by genre — funk, hip hop, country, metal — and musicians were packed inside, with the instruments they'd brought, to improv and jam with strangers. One of my 2023 goals is to get back into making music, so this was the kickstart I needed.

Afterward, grab some dinner and drinks at Pub & The People or make the 10-minute trek to Union Market before hopping on the Metro home. I also saw some people grab takeout from Supreme Barbeque and it looked delicious.

The best part is that they do these ~once a month. I'm determined to keep going and muster up the confidence to actually grab a mic. See you there?
