Your Guide to February in D.C.

00:00:00

From Lunar New Year to Mardi Gras, February is absolutely stacked with holidays and events. We chatted with Jade Womack of Clockout DC about six events you absolutely can’t miss this month.

D.C. public library will be screening films every Tuesday this month to showcase different aspects of the Black experience. Today’s films are “Black Art: In the Absence of Light” and “Really Love.” (Free, MLK Library)

Watch the parade, dance to live music, grab a hurricane from the District Pier Bar, and finish the night with a firework salute. (Free, The Wharf)

Head to the courtyard in the National Portrait Gallery for dance and music performances, crafts, traditional art demonstrations, face painting, and a show-stopping lion dance. (Free, Penn Quarter)

Bring your pals, partner, or mom, and get a Valentine’s themed flash tattoo by the artists at District Tattoo. It doesn’t get any more romantic (or permanent) than that. (Free, Union Market)

This 360-degree, full-dome immersive experience places you right at the heart of the northern lights. It is part of the Kennedy Center’s REACH to FOREST festival that explores the symbiotic relationship between forests and the human world. ($10, Kennedy Center)

Watch indigenous-language films from around the world to highlight the crucial role languages play in our daily lives. Stay after the screenings for Q&As with the directors. (Free, multiple locations)

There's nowhere else you'll be able to watch a film in Inuit. It's very hard to find this. We're so lucky in D.C. that we can experience these other cultures, and it's free.Jade Womack, Clockout DC
